The Beatles In LOVE. 3

LIZ: I've been waiting in anticipation all day. I could hardly concentrate on my schoolwork thinking about John's offer. If I brought the idea up with my mom she would flip a nut! Not to mention I wasn't a good dancer. I get shy too easily and the last time I danced was back in middle school when we had our 8th grade winter fest. But at the same time I wanted to go so badly. I had come into contact with the famous Beatles and was I going to lose my connection with them by not going to the club? I didn't know what to do!

School got out at 3:00 pm. The pale sun felt good in the dying afternoon, but I still too preoccupied to enjoy its warmth. Jenna sensed my distance and asked me, "What's up? You've been in a daze all day."

I blushed, knowing that I was caught. How could she read my thoughts so well? I stuttered, "Well, these boys asked me if I wanted to go dancing tonight, but..."

"Oh, so it's boy trouble," Jenna teased.

"What? No! It's not like that! What I meant was I don't think my mom will let me go. She doesn't like clubs and there's no way she'll let her daughter go to one."

Jenna looked at me with sympathy and asked, "Well, when does it start?"

"They said 6:00 pm."

Her face beamed with self-admiration and simply said, "Why not tell your mom that you're over at my house studying. I'll cover for you. My mom's gone today anyway, so it should be a clean escape."

I smiled and laughed with amazement. "Jenna, how do you come up with ideas like that?"
She flicked her hair behind her ear and gave me a devious smile. "I just do."
